Mild Minds embraces the unconventional in ‘Embracer’

Mild Minds embraces the unconventional in ‘Embracer’

Filled with stunning ambience and a variety of delicate keys, Mild Minds releases his first single of 2019, ‘Embracer’. The latest project to come from Australian production master Benjamin David, Mild Minds creates with the intention of exploring radiant textures. Focusing on activating a variety of elements from downtempo electronica to classical strings, the producer creates an unconventional single.

Mild Minds builds a visionary soundscape that envelops the listener. His slow and wistful approach to the track makes for a left-field composition that explores sonically rich territories. With the help of Foreign Family Collective, Mild Minds crafts a venture that surpasses the current boundaries of electronic music. As the producer continues to expand upon his project we look forward to seeing what other original releases he has in store this year. The producer kicks off 2019 with an extensive tour around the United States with Big Wild, bringing his innovative project to the stage.

Brasstracks Drop Dynamic New EP: “Before We Go”

Brasstracks Drop Dynamic New EP: “Before We Go”

Among the best the Big Apple has to offer, Brasstracks dropped their brand new EP entitled “Before We Go”.

Unlike most current hip-hop, Brasstracks new EP continued their relationship with live instrumentation, rather than drum machines and synths. Ivan and Conor have created a signature blend, infusing R&B soul with live horns, percussion, and hard-hitting hip-hop.

Among the 7 songs on the EP, many featured rising artists from different genres including: R.Lum.R, Grace, Pell and Charles Gaines. The variety of Features demonstrated Brasstracks musical versatility. Tapping into more genres than ever before, while maintaining their unique sound, Brasstracks conjured their most ambitious project yet.

Brasstracks shared some words about their upcoming EP and plans afterward:

“We’re BEYOND excited to share this music with you, but we realized you may not know what this project is all about, or the story behind some of the songs. Most people have so far thought that “Before We Go” is some sort of sign of our hiatus or of us splitting up as a band. Exactly what we wanted to you to believe, but it’s certainly the opposite of what’s going on. Truthfully, we just needed to get these songs to everyone, “Before We Go” start and finish an album. Our journey has only begun. It’s going to take some time, and we promise not to starve you guys with music – but that’s the root of it.

For Those Who Know was for our fans who stuck with us through an awkward transition from electronic and bombastic to more live and nuanced, from Soundcloud to Spotify and Apple, etc. Before We Go is a declaration for not just our fans, but for everyone, that we are here to stay, and the next project is going to be even bigger.”

Before We Go Tracklist:

1. Will We Ever Know (Intro)

2. Everything I Got (feat. Anthony Flammia)

3. Follows (feat. Grace)

4. Vibrant (feat. Pell)

5. I’m Alright (feat. R.Lum.R)

7. Will We Ever Know (Outro)

HARD Recs Announces First Single Release from JOYRYDE’s Anticipated Album

HARD Recs Announces First Single Release from JOYRYDE’s Anticipated Album

The EDM event powerhouse company, HARD is officially in the label space and the first release to graced the imprint is a single from JOYRYDE, titled “IM GONE.” Not only is the release a taste of what’s come from JOYRYDE’s full-length album, but it’s a taste for what we can expect to hear from HARD’s label. “IM GONE” fits seamlessly into the HARD brand we know and love.

The single from JOYRYDE is a high energy track, with trademark elements of a dance floor detonator: a pushing beat, exciting buildups, and unexpected drops. “IM GONE” is unusual, too, as it’s laced with beautiful melancholic piano riffs. JOYRYDE’s talent as a producer and storyteller is on full display on this track and HARD Recs should be proud with its inaugural release. The track will bewilder listeners with the eerie nature of the added instrumentals.

While it’s beautiful to listen to, this song goes hard and is a perfect debut release on the label.

Matt Lange and Deniz Reno join up for ethereal, ‘The Space Between’

Matt Lange and Deniz Reno join up for ethereal, ‘The Space Between’

Grammy Nominated DJ and Producer Matte Lange’s eagerly awaited EP via deadmau5’s mau5trap is set to release March 13th. For those struggling to wait, the first single and title track “Space Between” (feat Deniz Reno) is now available as a taste of the project.

Fans expecting the mysterious glitchy post modular sounds Lange is known for, will find his new single sounds a bit different. Lange utilizes silkier more comprehensible sounds while sustaining a suspenseful soundscape. Deniz Reno compliments Matt Lange’s production offering a beautiful and ethereal pop sensibility that married elegantly with Matt’s blend of synths, machines, and cello.

Fans can expect the EP to echo the track, as Lange explores a sonic aesthetic that combines outboard and modular synths with acoustic instrumentation as well as features from two of his favorite Singers. In similar fashion, “Space Between” exemplifies such an electric ethereal experience that only Lange could conjure.

Marc Houle’s EP Release on DIRTYBIRD is Utterly Unique

Marc Houle’s EP Release on DIRTYBIRD is Utterly Unique

DIRTYBIRD welcomes Marc Houle back to the label, this time with his own EP titled makes “Min and Soda.” Hailing from Canada, Houle is a practiced producer and knows how to entice the crowd with his unique live sets. Years of experience a vast knowledge of electronic music result in his remarkable ability to produce a sensory experience – exemplified in this EP.

The opener, “Min and Soda” is a minimal trippy track featuring offbeat synths and a futuristic tech-house sound. In typical Marc Houle fashion, the listener is never able to guess what’s coming next, and the track is anything but cookie-cutter.

The second track, “Car and Driver” is just as unique. Ears perk up with a driving acid line that never lets up, and from start to finish we become a passenger in his fast-paced car racing through a vintage-inspired video game. As per usual, Houle’s unusual style turns up a success.

GRiZ and Matisyahu Release “A New Day” Single, GRiZ’s ‘Ride Waves’ LP Due April 5th

GRiZ and Matisyahu Release “A New Day” Single, GRiZ’s ‘Ride Waves’ LP Due April 5th

GRiZ has just released his newest single “A New Day,” featuring One Day singer Matisyahu from his forthcoming LP, Ride Waves. Collaboration on this single begun in the studio just days after the Parkland shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas and is being released one year later in the tragedy’s dedication. GRiZ and Matisyahu have used this urban, reggae-electronic single to send a message concerning this tragedy and the many like it that have occurred in the past.

The single talks gun violence and pleas for an end to all the bullets. GRiZ’s production remains strong while Matisyahu’s vocals are just as uplifting as the lyrics are moving. Together, they bring attention to an issue incredibly urgent in our world today. “A New Day” calls on its listeners to help create a better future.

In Matisyahu’s own words:

“The song kind of wrote itself and it came at a time when this was obviously what was going on around us and in our consciousness. When we walked into the studio we knew we wanted to make a meaningful song but we didn’t walk in there with this specific intention (addressing gun violence). When we came into that artistic place where we were like “let’s open up and figure out what is going on inside of us’, this is what rose to the top.”

In GRiZ’s own words:

“Matisyahu’s voice speaks volumes to so many people. He has this unique ‘way’ of speaking and I am infinitely humbled that we were able to link up an idea that I think is very necessary today.”

GRiZ is supporting TOMS Shoes in their mission to have the community contact their local Congress representative to encourage universal background checks and is calling on his fans to do so as well. More on that here: https://www.toms.com/takeaction

GRiZ’s Ride Waves LP is due to come out on April 5th.

ICARUS Drop 4-Track EP: This Must Be The Place

ICARUS Drop 4-Track EP: This Must Be The Place

UK-based brother-duo ICARUS – which consists of Tom & Ian Griffiths – have today released a new EP: This Must Be The Place. Proceeded by two singles – Echoes & Man Of The Land feat. Real Lies – the full 4-track EP is out today in full on FFRR. ICARUS shared some words about the new EP:

“We’ve got the clearest vision that we’ve ever had of the core ICARUS sound, but those tracks show that we’ll always experiment with how far we’ll push it.”

ICARUS have been on a tear the past year. They released another EP earlier in 2018, In The Dark EP, which caught the attention of Australian powerhouse RÜFÜS DU SOL, who invited the Griffiths brothers to open for them on their massive SOLACE tour, throughout the latter months of 2018. This tour saw ICARUS play their first ever live show, something they plan on doing much more of in 2019. They also released a BBC Essential Mix in June.

Gettoblaster and DJ Funk team up for DIRTYBIRD Release

Gettoblaster and DJ Funk team up for DIRTYBIRD Release

Gettoblaster stepped on the scene in 2014 and has been a force in producing house music ever since. This duo, hailing from Chicago and Detroit, has a distinct style while staying deeply rooted in preserving house and techno music. DJ Funk is no stranger to successful production, either, pioneering the ghetto-house scene since the 1990s and making a name for himself early in his career around the midwest.

The artists’ most recent release on DIRTYBIRD Records stays true to a Gettoblaster sound: it’s not for the faint of heart. The track, titled “Get Dat,” features crisp percussions and a robust bass-line. The song is provocative, and depending on where your mind is, you wouldn’t expect what “dat” is that we’re actually getting. Just as original house music calls for, the song’s dirty beat is relentlessly unapologetic and sexual in nature. The repetitive words are a house music staple, and the track is a DIRTYBIRD banger. The dance floor will be shaking and booties will be percolating, so crank dat “Get Dat,” fam.

Desert Hearts Releases Family & Friends Volume 3

Desert Hearts Releases Family & Friends Volume 3

The Family & Friends series from Desert Hearts Records is an ode to what the Desert Hearts crew does best: house, techno, deep house, and tech-house. Riddled with label stalwarts old and new, this collection of songs samples exactly what you’d hear at a Desert Hearts party.

The third installment of the Family & Friends series is comprised of 19 tracks that represent every shade of Desert Hearts. With artists Andrea Henneberg, Sacha Robotti, Cut Snake, NiQW, Sydney Blu, Rich Pinder, and many more, there is no shortage of fresh tracks on the collection.

The opener is a song from Andrea Henneberg, aptly titled “Desert Hearts.” It begins with a robotic voice repeating, “Desert Hearts,” which then proclaims, “Let’s rock that shit.” It’s a fun start to this third volume and sets the listener up for the rest of the collection, in which, of course, the artists are rocking that shit. Crank the volume and enjoy.
