Mitch Geist Drops Stunning 30 Track Compilation “Flavors”

Mitch Geist Drops Stunning 30 Track Compilation “Flavors”

Mitch Geist recently dropped, “Flavors” which is a compilation of remixes, ideas, and loops that each supply a unique and swank vibe. This whopping 30 track project covers a spectrum of sounds from Gellaitry like synths to instrumental hip hop reminiscent of J Dilla. Mitch brings these elements together all with his own characteristic funk hop style and standout production.

My personal favorites from this compilation are, “When I Had Nothin’”, “ThassWhy”, and “WaterCountry” which was even used by apparel brand Rip n Dip to promote their new spring collection! Although many of these tracks may not be fully realised, the extensive mood and groove of the project are a complete journey reminiscent of Flying Lotus’, “Ideas+drafts+loops”.

If you’ve yet to give this lengthy compilation a listen, then it may suit you to indulge in parts. But one trip in LA traffic should be just enough to experience the hour and fourteen minute odyssey that is “Flavors.”

Check it out below and RSVP here to his performance at Good Society’s “Beneath Waves” on Friday, March 29th!

Hanne Mjøen unveils eclectic remix package of fresh hit ‘Sounds Good To Me’

Hanne Mjøen unveils eclectic remix package of fresh hit ‘Sounds Good To Me’

After the successful release of the single “Sounds Good to Me” Hanne Mjoen has just released a fresh pack of remixes for the song. Following the recent remixes by Paul Woolford and German producer Gerd Janson, this release has a wide range of different reworks of the song. We see the styles of Hi-Life, Retrovision, and SHAUN all sprinkling their magic over the track.

The first remix to kick off the package is done by Mark Walks and Sam Raines, aka Hi-Life, who bring us the heavy deep-house vibe everyone loves. This style goes perfect with the song because the track already has a bit of deep house sounds influenced in the chorus.

The next remix to hit us is by the French producer Retrovision. This is quite the contrast from the first track. He gives us a funky vibrant disco influenced remix that’s easy to dance to. It’s refreshing to see the change up in style and the possibilities of what these talented producers can do with a song in their own ways.

SHAUN ends this remix trilogy off with the most upbeat version in the release. He uses vibrant chord patterns with a lot of smooth melodic elements to create a bubbly pop-house bop that’s surely to fill the dancefloor.

‘Sounds Good to Me’ has already amassed over 2.8 million Spotify streams since the release. Hanne Mjoen is beginning to form the reputation of a unique style and diverse vocal range. We can be expecting good things from the young artist come 2019 as she continues to dominate the industry.

This extraordinary package of remixes is available on all streaming platforms so don’t wait to give them a listen!

Lane 8 Releases a Fresh Ben Böhmer Remix That Leaves Us Drifting Through Space

Lane 8 Releases a Fresh Ben Böhmer Remix That Leaves Us Drifting Through Space

As Lane 8 heads off on the second leg of the Little by Little Tour this week, he left us with a stardust filled Ben Böhmer remix of his single “Hold On” this morning. This track is the third official remix of the original track off of Lane 8’s second album Little by Little that was released earlier this year. Much like Lane 8’s original compositions, this track is a soothing blend of deep, melodic, and house at its truest form. Though slightly more upbeat than the original, it uses similar timbres that will leave your foot unconsciously tapping. This remix follows Ben Böhmer’s own release of his Anjunadeep EP named Dive back in July.

With an exciting next two weeks in Europe, fans there get to indulge in this new remix in addition to Lane 8’s other top hits including “Little by Little” and “Atlas” that have been streamed over 4 million times combined on Spotify. Fans back in the U.S. can expect 8 more tour dates to be able to take part in this deep house imprint Lane 8 is continuing to leave upon his return on October 18 in Raleigh, NC.

Little By Little Remixes are out in full on October 4th.

JULiA LEWiS – Jumpman Jumpmang

JULiA LEWiS – Jumpman Jumpmang

You gotta love it when an artist takes the time to really make a remix/refix/refilpre-whatever their own. The homie JULiA LEWiS take some inspiration from the Bull’s official warm up music in his tribute to the OG Jumpman himself.

From JULiA LEWiS:

More than a nod to drake or future, this one is an ode to Michael jordan (a childhood hero *pre-gambling problems, *pre-misogyny, lol). He wasn’t just an athletic inspiration for me, but also a model for work ethic and determination. I transposed the Chicago bulls warmup song to fit underneath parts of the beat, to bring it all together. Can you catch it?

Alison Wonderland – Take It To Reality (Justin Jay Remix Feat. Benny Bridges)

Justin Jay takes on Alison Wonderland’s “Take It To Reality” and creates “hot fire”. Some stuff from soundcloud down below.

Justin Jay is currently on tour:

Sometimes making music can be a really intense, serious, grueling process. Other times it’s about being silly and goofing around with your homies. Ben is a crazy jazz/blues guitarist and we had fun pretending to be tough on this remix for Alison Wonderland. We’ve been making a ton of music together with our homie Josh Taylor so keep your ear out for Benny Bridges, laying it down on guitar.
