Channel Tres Features on Flight Facilities’ Latest Classic, ‘Lights Up’

Today, Australian producer duo Flight Facilities return to their beloved fanbase, delivering a new single immersed in a feeling of West-Coast cool imparted by collaborator Channel Tres. Released on Future Classic/Glassnote Records, ‘Lights Up’ marks the band’s first release of 2021 with a direct flight to Channel Tres’ own Compton California.

The track marks a highly anticipated return to North America for the duo as well, who will be gracing the stage for three nights at Downtown Los Angeles’ Banc of California stadium alongside electronic giants RÜFÜS DU SOL this November. 50,000 additional tickets were added to keep up with demand after the first show sold out in mere minutes.

‘Lights Up’ is the first track to be released in over a year from the live-electronic selectors, who have been working together for over a decade, creating timeless, genre-defying classics drenched in a sense of nostalgia. ‘Lights Up’ is a continuation of this philosophy, aided by Channel Tres’ propensity for crossing genres and drawing inspiration from eras like 90s Detroit house and West-Coast hip-hop. The result is a track that belongs to these moments in time as much as it represents what’s next for the global dance sound, a confluence of feeling and style.

“We’ve always loved the sound of the early Detroit House scene that crossed over with the Paradise Garage era. Combined with our love for Channel’s voice, it seemed like a perfect fit. His voice has a magical ability to make songs that are made for strutting. We felt it was important to keep enough of our sound and influence in the track, to avoid it sounding too derivative, so we wanted to include some 90’s and 00’s elements to give the song its own character.”

Flight Facilities

While forthcoming performances at the Banc of California and New Zealand’s Snow Machine Festival point to exciting projects ahead, the guys have kept their productions flowing, most recently dropping a disco-forward remix of ‘Vintage‘ for New York bassist Blu DeTiger, delivering a brand new 1962-72 Decades mix, and launching their very own app – Flight Deck. The free IOS and Android compatible app, built to celebrate 10 years of Flight Facilities magic, is a one stop shop that houses a treasure trove of unreleased Flight Facilities tracks, bootleg cuts, mixtapes and more.

Initially gaining recognition in 2010 for singles like “Crave You” ft. Giselle Rosselli and “Foreign Language”, Flight Facilities has since been a constant industry driving force, which included releasing their debut and only full-length album to date Down to Earth in 2014. The LP went on to achieve gold certification and garner three ARIA nominations, with widespread appreciation for their feel-good, dance floor ready tunes. The band followed the album with a multi-year run of singles which included “Need You” ft. NÏKA, “Arty Boy” ft Emma Louise, “Stranded” ft. Broods, Reggie Watts, Broods & Saro, “All Your Love” ft Dustin Tebbutt, and “Better Than Ever” ft Aloe Blacc.

Channel Tres has been steadily continuing on his unstoppable trajectory, having most recently released his I Can’t Go Outside EP, an introspective mixtape which boasted a sexy blend of classic house and West Coast rap and featured collaborations with the likes of Tinashe and Tyler the Creator. He also featured on further major hits including “Impact” with SG Lewis and Robyn, and “Recap”, a collaboration alongside Kito and VanJess.

‘Lights Up’ is an eagerly awaited homecoming for Flight Facilities, who remain two of the most recognizable forces in the globally facing Australian electronic music scene that took hold in the early 2000s. As they prepare to once again position themselves center stage alongside budding superstars like Channel Tres, it is clear that the duo are ready to build upon the catchy and comforting sounds that remain at the core of the Flight Facilities journey.

Justin Jay drops funk-fueled EP Future Feels on Desert Hearts

Justin Jay drops funk-fueled EP Future Feels on Desert Hearts

Justin Jay just dropped Future Feels, a two-track trip of sonic exploration. Released on Desert Hearts, this record is the Southern Californian’s debut on the label.

‘Future Feels’ is a romantic union of funkadelic and melodic influences. Starting off with soft vocals and twinkling synths, Jay elevates the track to groovy heights with trippy synths and juicy bass lines.

Jay’s musings of the future are realized on ‘Rave Tools’ through a vortex of meaty synths, chunky samples and thick basslines. The EP is an overall reflection of his playfulness as an artist and the bright energy he emanates in his performances.

Listen to Future Feels EP here.

While the DJ and producer’s career began in his dorm room, Jay has grown to be a household name across America and a key member of the Dirtybird flock. He is currently on tour to celebrate the third anniversary of Fantastic Voyage. See if he’s playing in your hometown here

Coldabank drops two remixes for summer favorite ‘Take Me Back’

Coldabank drops two remixes for summer favorite ‘Take Me Back’

Bristol-born DJ, producer and singer Coldabank has just released two remixes of the summer favorite ‘Take Me Back.’

Having been signed to Mistajam’s Speakerbox Records via Insanity Records/Sony Music UK earlier this year, Sammy Porter is no stranger to curating dancefloor heaters. The remix comes in hot with an electrifying beat and strong synth progressions, which are taken to deeper levels as Coldabank vocals are stretched into baritone.

Next up we have the rework from Jansons, who has garnered support from the likes of Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, Nicole Moudaber and more. The British DJ and producer brings a tribal flair to the track with the warm beat of hand drums, which is later greeted by an infectious disco essence. Coldaband’s vocals serve as the voice of nostalgia, as its airiness floats through your mind like your favorite dance floor memories.

Listen to the remixes of ‘Take Me Back here

Coldabank’s career has taken him down an array of musical paths, including engineering for Tiny Tempah, remixing for Charli XCX and Rudimental, DJing with Labrinth, and building his personal discography.

Cassian releases ‘Magic,’ an ethereal wonder ft. Zolly

Rising DJ and producer Cassian has just dropped an ethereal wonder. The latest addition to the flourishing artist’s discography, ‘Magic’ is a fusion of ethereal pop and alt-dance that makes for a simmering sunset vibe.

Tender, whimsical synths coax listeners into a dreamstate while Phil Slabber of Crooked Colours provides silky, evocative vocals on the track under the alias Zolly.

‘Magic’ is a burst of escapism, sending the psyche into an exploration of love and loss. This is the latest release on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue imprint, which launched last fall.

This track is another example of the Sydney native’s rapidly evolving skill, as it comes after the release of several massive remixes, including two reworks on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s double Solace REMIXED album, ‘Treat You Better’ and ‘Eyes’ with Durante.

LISTEN: CHROMONICCI RELEASES A NEW SINGLE

Chromonicci has recently dropped his latest single titled, “Just Push.” Barely over a month from his latest, “Peaceful Places EP” which premiered on Radio Juicy, this track already denotes a transformative sound for the young beatsmith. As a deviation from his purely instrumental works, nicci delivers a bouncy beat which is layered with airy vocals and introspective lyrics. The message of “Just Push.” is to be assured and uncompromising in the pursuit of your craft. This anthem to creatives reflects on Chromonicci’s own struggles as an artist in which he has settled for less than his worth. “But no more!”

After listening to releases like “Switch” which features his signature electro-bounce style with a bossa nova breakdown, “Peaceful Places EP” with unique chill hop production, and “Just Push.” drop in succession, it’s no secret that Chromonicci is about to take the electronic music scene by storm. His consistency and eclectic range are shaping a definitive path for the rising artists future.

Alex Martian Drops Classics Leading up to His New Project in 2019

Alex Martian Drops Classics Leading up to His New Project in 2019

New York based up and coming producer Alex Martian has really been creating a place for himself amongst new wave electronic music listeners. With a style as complex yet vivid as the artwork he creates for each release, there is no shortage of awe in listening to his discography. It’s quite difficult to put a label on his sound though it incorporates a lot of jazzy chords, break rhythms, and sweeping synths. Having produced for just over 4 years, his musical variance and sound design is recognizably on par with names that have inspired him such as Sam Gellaitry, Monte Booker, and Gorillaz. Each Alex Martian track sounds like an autumn forest, filled with multitudes of complementary colors.

Leading up to a project drop in later 2019, Alex has released with labels like Future Vibes and Bonsai Collective as well as his remix of Ellzo’s “Spiral”. We’re stoked to see what the future holds for this young producer and to hear new Martian in the coming year.

Be sure to follow him here for updates on new releases and check out his music below!

Geller Drops his Debut Album “Astral Plane”

Geller Drops his Debut Album “Astral Plane”

Geller’s debut album Astral Plane is here, and it is nothing short of spectacular. After making
some noise in the SoundCloud beat-making scene for the since 2016, the 18 year-old producer went into a year-long hibernation from releasing music to craft what he calls “a perfect representation” of the emotions he has felt in the last year.

“Dealing with and depression and anxiety could be seen by a lot of people as a handicap, but honestly it was sort of to my advantage in making this album,” Geller says. “After my father passed away in 2017, I needed some way to express my emotions. Everything I was feeling just felt trapped inside of me, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find the words to
describe my emotions to doctors, friends, and family.”

Just shy of 45 minutes, the 11-track album takes us on an adventure through various moods and atmospheres. The short intro to the album, “Dreamstate,” insinuates falling asleep, or potentially leaving the physical realm and entering “the astral plane.” The bright and luscious synths on the track “Rewind” set the tone for the intergalactic adventure the album is about to take listeners on. The tracks “Every Girl” and “Contour Lines” shed light on brief happiness found in reminiscing over a lover from the past. Only to be contradicted by the dark, abrasive, loneliness of “Wasteland,” “Lullabies,” and “Wounded,” which serve as a sort of nightmare sequence in the dream that is the album. All to be concluded by the optimistic tone of the tracks “Eternal Sunshine,” and “Until Then.”

“As I was making this album, I really wanted to create this world where people could escape. I’ve always been very interested in dreams, so I thought having an album about one elongated dream would be the best way to do that.”

– Geller

Certainly a breath of fresh air, the album blends sounds of many genres—many of which are unorthodox for electronic music—into one opus piece. Astral Plane debuted at #7 on the U.S. iTunes Dance Music Chart upon its release on December 21, 2018, and has thus far been consigned by the likes of Kaskade and Sam Gellaitry. The album can be streamed or bought on all platforms. Listen below on Spotify and be sure to follow Geller on instagram here.
