The talented LA-based producer Alexander Lewis does not only make music; he crafts art by combining his love for trombones with his advanced production techniques. Lewis’ seamless incorporation of trombones into his production caught the public eye a few years ago with the trombone remixes of Troyboi’s Flamez (Alexander Lewis remix) and Kanye’s All Of The Lights (Alexander Lewis remix). As a producer, Lewis is bringing innovation to the Hip-Hop world and expanding the limits of this highly praised genre.
Today, Lewis is back with Win the War feat. B Anderson, the first single from his upcoming project – The Red EP – which he’s planning to release this summer. While Win the War captures the essence of Lewis, it’s also indicates a transition in his production style from a rap-dance music production in his previous project Omni EP to a more hip-hop oriented style with The Red EP.
Lewis surpasses himself with Win the War by including a 12-piece band to record the brass section that resonates with ultimate harmony with the strong hip-hop beats he introduces. Apart from the brass section, the vocal mix is also one of the smoothest with Dallas-based rapper B Anderson chanting this glorious song and making the audience strive for victory. The low vocal melody and repetition for the phrases “I get mine, you get yours” utilized in the choruses helps to emphasize the outcome of the war, how the winner will be the one who puts the most effort and will reap what they sow.
Lewis recently produced Juice WRLD’s song Big and has another song lined up featuring Chief Keef and T-Shyne after the release of his EP. He has gained over millions of streams with his trombone take on songs, and now he is ready to gain much more with Win the War feat. B Anderson and eventually The Red EP.

The Code’s new EP “mercury” is out today, a few months after teasing the us by releasing “moments”, which was first played at 1Xtra by DJ Target. On their mission of bringing down the barriers that distinguish genres, The Code is putting their advanced R&B/Hip Hop production skills to use and creating a space travel experience for people who are exposed to their artistic vision.
The Code opens up the EP with “system” to set the tone and lets the audience know that even though you can only hear with your ears, you will be immersed into a 3-D experience by just listening to this EP. The precision of the beats juxtaposing with a melody that resembles lo-fi but is also in harmony with every aspect of the production are the main reasons for this EP to sound like a message from distant galaxies.
In The Code’s own words, “This is what it must feel like to be retrograde”.
The Code keeps their identity anonymous to avoid distorted social media representations and to speak only through their art. This strategy has helped them a lot as it can be observed from the 8 million streams they have gained from “Gravity” featuring the rap legend G-Eazy.
The Code has also been praised by outlets like The 405 and Pigeons & Planes for their debut “Blue Electronica” and another long project “Paramount”.

Cour T. might only be 16, but he’s already got a promising career ahead as DIRTYBIRD’s newest signee. His newest EP, Black Magic, contains one of Claude VonStroke’s favorite tracks of the year. Said tune, the two-tracker’s eponymous A-side, stimulating, driving, and sensous, tapping into the carnal parts of the brain via hollow percussive elements stripped-down synths. “Downstairs” also packs the heat, taking on a longey, 4am feel with minimal production and a pulsing bassline.
“Every time I play Cour T.’s ‘Black Magic”’ the room changes. The entire vibe of the party goes from hands in the air to grinding, sexual energy, states VonStroke of his treasured new release. “his track has arcane properties on the dance floor. I wish I had 10 tracks with this vibe because nothing else sounds like it and when I play it, I always wish I could keep the vibe for longer.”
No wonder he kept it so long for himself before releasing to the masses.
