Desert Hearts Black has returned with the hard-hitting release of Phantom, a two-track record from Turkish twins Lunar Plane. The EP is an ode to the depths of melodic techno, proving the duo’s acute sense of sound that dominates dance floors around the world.
Dark, booming bass lines form a thrusting structure that stirs an extraterrestrial essence throughout the EP. A slow-burning progression and shadowy synths take hold of the title-track, while ‘The Lighthouse’ is an echanting melangé of industrial soundscapes and otherwordly inflections.
While Lunar Plane has conquered the academic realm of America as Yale Univeristy graduates, the set of identical twins has embarked on a journey to claim their territory in the music space. Not long after the brothers’ production partnership began in 2014, Lunar Plane earned heavy support in the DJ community, including Solomun, Tale of Us, Steyoyoke and Stil Vor Talent.
Since the recent inception of Desert Hearts’ sub-label Desert Hearts Black, the brainchild of Marbs and Evan Casey, the imprint has already formed a solid discography and artist catalogue. Phantom comes only a couple months after their first release Torus, which claimed the #1 spot on Beatport’s Overall Chart upon its release.
After a scorching success at the rugged natural fortress of Masada in September, Day Zero will return to the mystic jungle of Tulum on January 10. Nestled in lush flora and fauna and beneath a star-spangled sky, the event will embark on an eighteen-hour musical voyage featuring some of the world’s most exhilarating selectors and live acts.
Several powerhouses will be making their Day Zero debuts, including GRAMMY-winning Dubfire, Berlin heroine Ellen Allien, Keinemusik’s &Me, house and techno legend Luciano, minimal giant Priko and eclectic duo Concret.
It’s a reunion for the Crosstown Rebels family, as the bill features Art Department, Bedouin, Francesca Lombardo, Serge Devant, Tibi Dabo and Yulia Niko. Fellow Crosstown member Ae:there will be providing a portion of the live music, while local legend and sitar maestro Sidartha Siliceo will return with his futuristic rendition on classical northern Indian sounds.
Returning to the series are dynamic duo Audiofly and Black Coffee, along with the mastermind of the event himself, Damian Lazarus.
Since its inception on the final day of the Mayan Calendar in 2012, Day Zero has celebrated the rebirth of ancient tradition with forward-thinking electronic music. The event invites you to an experience reminiscent of Burning Man, as the event empowers sustainable practices, commitment to human connection and cultural connectivity.
The enchanting environment thrives off a ritualistic energy and bond with the local community, creating a total immersion of the senses. Tickets are on sale now via Resident Advisor.
Justin Jay just dropped Future Feels, a two-track trip of sonic exploration. Released on Desert Hearts, this record is the Southern Californian’s debut on the label.
‘Future Feels’ is a romantic union of funkadelic and melodic influences. Starting off with soft vocals and twinkling synths, Jay elevates the track to groovy heights with trippy synths and juicy bass lines.
Jay’s musings of the future are realized on ‘Rave Tools’ through a vortex of meaty synths, chunky samples and thick basslines. The EP is an overall reflection of his playfulness as an artist and the bright energy he emanates in his performances.
While the DJ and producer’s career began in his dorm room, Jay has grown to be a household name across America and a key member of the Dirtybird flock. He is currently on tour to celebrate the third anniversary of Fantastic Voyage. See if he’s playing in your hometown here.
Bristol-born DJ, producer and singer Coldabank has just released two remixes of the summer favorite ‘Take Me Back.’
Having been signed to Mistajam’s Speakerbox Records via Insanity Records/Sony Music UK earlier this year, Sammy Porter is no stranger to curating dancefloor heaters. The remix comes in hot with an electrifying beat and strong synth progressions, which are taken to deeper levels as Coldabank vocals are stretched into baritone.
Next up we have the rework from Jansons, who has garnered support from the likes of Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, Nicole Moudaber and more. The British DJ and producer brings a tribal flair to the track with the warm beat of hand drums, which is later greeted by an infectious disco essence. Coldaband’s vocals serve as the voice of nostalgia, as its airiness floats through your mind like your favorite dance floor memories.
Coldabank’s career has taken him down an array of musical paths, including engineering for Tiny Tempah, remixing for Charli XCX and Rudimental, DJing with Labrinth, and building his personal discography.
NYC-based rapper NiVo has today released a new single: “and I know“. NiVo showcases his knack for melodies on the track, crooning over a playfully refined trap beat. NiVo makes expert use of autotune and reverb, allowing his vocals to take center stage in the mix.
“and I know“ revolves around themes of transparency and communication. NiVo’s noticed how women have started to treat him differently, as his music career evolves. He makes it clear that he’s always going to be straight-up with his intentions and he expects his love interests to do the same.
“And I know is for anyone who has communication issues with a potential partner. It’s meant to just encourage people to stop caring so much and just cut to the point!”
“and I know“ is NiVo’s second release of September, having released Back In My Back just a few weeks prior. NiVo is part of the NYC/Dubai-based record label and collective Nuit Sans Fin.

Rising DJ and producer Cassian has just dropped an ethereal wonder. The latest addition to the flourishing artist’s discography, ‘Magic’ is a fusion of ethereal pop and alt-dance that makes for a simmering sunset vibe.
Tender, whimsical synths coax listeners into a dreamstate while Phil Slabber of Crooked Colours provides silky, evocative vocals on the track under the alias Zolly.
‘Magic’ is a burst of escapism, sending the psyche into an exploration of love and loss. This is the latest release on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue imprint, which launched last fall.
This track is another example of the Sydney native’s rapidly evolving skill, as it comes after the release of several massive remixes, including two reworks on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s double Solace REMIXED album, ‘Treat You Better’ and ‘Eyes’ with Durante.
Cassian has proven himself to be a versatile, gifted artist and we cannot wait to see where the future takes him. In the mean time, we’ll be grooving to ‘Magic.’ Listen here.
