GRiZ collaborates with Wiz Khalifa on new single “Find My Own Way”

GRiZ teams up with Wiz Khalifa on latest release “Find My Own Way” from his forthcoming album Ride Waves. The jazzy single not only features the idolized rapper but also heavenly vocals by the Harlem Gospel Choir. The eclectic musical elements on this track come together to create a smooth, feel-good anthem.

In Wiz Khalifa’s words:

“The first time I heard the beat for ‘Find My Own Way,’ I knew there was something special there, since the beat alone feels good. I just had to sit with it and smoke a little KK and figure out my approach and i think it came out exactly how it should.”

Ride Waves, due on April 5th, will feature a list of many more renowned artists including Snoop Dogg and Bootsy Collins. With the record comes a UC album tour, kicking off in March and consisting of stops in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, New Orleans for Buku Music & Arts Project, Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, and more.

GRiZ triggers emotions in “A New Day” (Feat. Matisyahu) music video

GRiZ shines a light on gun violence and the horror it’s caused in his latest music video for “A New Day” (feat. Matisyahu). The empowering video follows the track that was written just days after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland and released on February 22nd as part of GRiZ’s upcoming album Ride Waves.

The raw video commentary features victims and families that have been directly affected by gun violence in some shape or form and footage from past shootings, including the recent tragedy at the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas. Also highlighted in the video are activists and past protests in support of stronger gun violence prevention like the student-led March For Our Lives demonstration in Washington D.C.

Along with the new music, GRiZ calls on fans to support Brady (formerly the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence) which encourages the community to #TakeActionNotSides and unite against gun violence. Visit bradyunited.org/act and add your voice to the millions urging senators to support S.42, legislation needed to expand background checks on gun sales and save lives.

At its core, the powerful music video reveals the damage gun violence can cause anyone no matter their age, sex, or race. It offers a plea to end this cycle of violence and hope for a new, better day.

GRiZ and Matisyahu Release “A New Day” Single, GRiZ’s ‘Ride Waves’ LP Due April 5th

GRiZ has just released his newest single “A New Day,” featuring One Day singer Matisyahu from his forthcoming LP, Ride Waves. Collaboration on this single begun in the studio just days after the Parkland shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas and is being released one year later in the tragedy’s dedication. GRiZ and Matisyahu have used this urban, reggae-electronic single to send a message concerning this tragedy and the many like it that have occurred in the past.

The single talks gun violence and pleas for an end to all the bullets. GRiZ’s production remains strong while Matisyahu’s vocals are just as uplifting as the lyrics are moving. Together, they bring attention to an issue incredibly urgent in our world today. “A New Day” calls on its listeners to help create a better future.

In Matisyahu’s own words:

“The song kind of wrote itself and it came at a time when this was obviously what was going on around us and in our consciousness. When we walked into the studio we knew we wanted to make a meaningful song but we didn’t walk in there with this specific intention (addressing gun violence). When we came into that artistic place where we were like “let’s open up and figure out what is going on inside of us’, this is what rose to the top.”

In GRiZ’s own words:

“Matisyahu’s voice speaks volumes to so many people. He has this unique ‘way’ of speaking and I am infinitely humbled that we were able to link up an idea that I think is very necessary today.”

GRiZ is supporting TOMS Shoes in their mission to have the community contact their local Congress representative to encourage universal background checks and is calling on his fans to do so as well. More on that here: https://www.toms.com/takeaction

GRiZ’s Ride Waves LP is due to come out on April 5th.

GRiZ Shares GRiZMAS Announce Video, Tix On Sale Friday

GRiZ Shares GRiZMAS Announce Video, Tix On Sale Friday

Christmas came early, it came this morning to be exact. My favorite electro-sax hero uploaded a video announcing this year’s fan-favorite GRiZMAS shows, to be held at The Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan. While I’ve never experienced GRiZMAS myself, it’s been the talk of the online communities in recent years. The Detroit-native has been known for his charitable efforts and specifically raising money for the underprivileged youth of his beloved hometown.

This year, the GRiZ live band will be making its much needed return to night one of the back-to-back performances at The Masonic Temple. The GRiZ live band was debuted last year via a massive unveil at Red Rocks in Denver. It was a magical night, one that deserved a follow up. While GRiZ’s full band has played out since then, it only makes sense that it presents itself once more for the holiday season in the city that’s closest to his heart.

The announcement this morning was presented via a proper GRiZ video. It was funny, it was silly, but most importantly very creative.  You always want to laugh at the stuff GRiZ puts online but have to respect the level of inventiveness that goes into everything he releases. Written and produced by GRiZ, phew…. I would have believed them if if they said a team of pros wrote this.

Catch the video below, and make sure to keep an eye out for tickets on Friday. They’ll be gone fast.
