DoLA is looking for a few GOOD interns.

DoLA is looking for a few GOOD interns.

‪#‎FunFact‬ – Many of my previous interns have gone on to do amazing things including working with Dr. Luke, Producing instrumentals for Drake and producing The Red Bull Sound Spaces for The World Famous KROQ. Now it’s time to make some magic happen at DoLA . We are looking for 3 new interns for next year who are in need of college credit / experience in the entertainment industry.

THIS IS NOT JUST A MUSIC JOB – We do everything here from content creation & marketing, to throwing events with major sponsors & brands, to promoting concerts and shows of all genres and you may even get some sales experience if that’s what you are interested in.

Some of the perks do include tickets & access to amazing shows & events, crazy networking opportunities, & the experience of working with one of the biggest event listing networks in the US.
Please feel free to tag your friends in the comments or you can reach out to me directly if you have any questions. More information can be found below.

Nap Girls Int’l Present: #NapTimeLA – 10/28/2015

Nap Girls Int’l Present: #NapTimeLA – 10/28/2015

As promised, here is the official info on the Nap Girls first LA event.

Get Your tickets (for free) right here.

Clear your calendars and schedule your naps accordingly, the first Nap Girls party is coming atcha and promises to be an unforgettable night of dance music, friendship, kickball, checking my Soundcloud fam, and feminism. All but two of those are true.

The party will take place at Mid City Arthouse – we’ll provide the chunes, and libations, while you hit us with your lovely face/body combos by showing up and…that’s it. Just come by, have a rad time, and be a part of the movement promoting equality in the dance music industry (and beyond!).

Entry to the event will be Free.99 (YAY!), with optional donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation – because what better way to celebrate and support women than to fight back at a disease that affects so many of us and our loved ones? There will also be options to donate at the bar, so many opportunities to give!

Musical guests will be abundant and include -but are not limited to -humans who are DJs, DJs wearing black, DJs with faces, DJs with hair, DJs with talent, and special guest Abi Getto on the kazoo.

We can’t thank you all enough for your support in our endeavor to enlighten, educate and fight gender inequality in our society. This is an issue that stems way beyond the dance music industry, but by giving our voice we hope to inspire women all over the world – in all industries – to speak out against institutionalized injustices.

Thanks again, and hope to see you all there!!

Sole & DJ Pain 1 – 9/19 @ The Echo

Sole & DJ Pain 1 – 9/19 @ The Echo

This show is fucking 10 dollars right now. Sole was one of the most influential emcees of my young Hip Hop career and I am intrigued to see what he sounds like today. His track bottle of humans still rides on my iphone to this day and if you are a fan of 90s and early 2000s independent / Underground – Hip hop, then you should come out and see one of the original dudes do his thing for what will surly be an older, less turnt audience.

Buy Tickets here.

Here is some info on the guys:

Sole

Sole

In 1998 he founded Anticon Records, the first collectively owned indie Hip-Hop label in the United States. Since then, Sole has played over a thousand shows throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Japan. In 2009, Sole pulled his masters from anticon and has re-invented himself as a new kind of artist, business, and political entity. His music has been recently featured in major media outlets such as Rolling Stone, 2DopeBoyz, Pitchfork, MTV, Impose, Huffington Post, Spin, Alarm Press, All Hip-hop, Alternet and many more. Sole has released ten full-length studio albums and over a dozen mixtapes. In 2009, together with award winning visual artist, Ravi Zupa, he published The Pyre, an illustrated epic poem exploring empire, radical philosophy, anti-capitalism, and collapse. Throughout his career Sole has been known as one to push the limits in terms of genre and content and is widely heralded as a pioneer of avant garde & experimental rap music. In 2013, Sole launched “The Solecast”, a podcast featuring long form interviews with academics, artists and activists. Sole’s activism reaches beyond the studio and stage into his everyday life where he is deeply involved material and logistical support to many projects that engage directly in the class struggle.
DJ Pain 1

DJ Pain 1

Known for his 2008 break-out beat on “Don’t Do It” for Young Jeezy’s platinum-selling album “The Recession”, producer DJ Pain 1 stays busy. He tours as a DJ, produces full albums, as well as creating original and free content for the producer community – this Hip-Hop musician takes no breaks.

Pain 1 spent the late 90’s cultivating his hip-hop sensibilities through graffiti, DJing and beatmaking. He juggled a youth service/teaching career with creating music, often times marrying the two worlds– he co-founded the first hip-hop performing arts program to be hosted in an institute of higher education in his
city. Once Pain 1 decided to focus on his production career, his resume quickly grew to include both legendary hip-hop acts (Public Enemy, Kool G Rap, MC Lyte) as well as contemporary hit-makers (Juicy J, 2 Chainz, 50 Cent). He has also garnered attention for his multiple Youtube video series on both production
technique and music business know-how.

“[T]he next truth in sonic production.” – Chuck D of Public Enemy
Pain 1 has done a lot for Madison’s hip-hop rep and a lot for others period, either as a beatsmith for Young Jeezy and Kool G Rap or as an educator working in the community.” – The AV Club
“DJ Pain 1 providesthe cure for the common beat.” – 77Square Magazine
