This is Vell. He is from Oakland. Oakland happens to be a gold mine for young raw hip hop talent. DJ Mustard and YG are both cosigning Vell which must mean that he probably has bars and some experience running around the town. You can check out the 2 track below and judge for yourself but this shit slaps.
hip hop
Adrian Lau – Lucid (Prod. by Harry Fraud)
Adrian might be tripping a bit but I wont hate on him too much. I’m not mad at this song at all but the lyrics are quasi forgettable. God Bless Harry Fraud.
Video: Chet Faker x GoldLink – Songs From Scratch
Chet Faker x GoldLink – Songs From Scratch from Yours Truly on Vimeo.
This is way too sick. Both of these guys are about to explode and are already being called 2 of the best artists to really make moves in 2014. This is the kind of content I wish I had time to make.
Songs from Scratch is an original series from Yours Truly and adidas originals that documents and delivers new songs, from scratch. Each song is the result of a curated collaboration between artists whose craft and passion inspire action.
Dilated Peoples – Show Me The Way Feat. Aloe Blacc
I have a lot of love for Dilated because they have done their thing for so long. The quality of their music is always up there and if you weren’t rocking with that beat then you should stop listening to music because you’re doing it wrong. Hardly revolutionary but don;t act like you can go wrong here.
Lashaun Ellis – Scottie Pippen (Prod By Khompono)
And the dope new music from LA keeps coming. I think I’m just going to have to face it.. There is too much good stuff out there.. However I feel rechared after today to go out and keep the good stuff coming right here. This is a blog of quality and I plan to keep it that way.
I have no idea who Lashaun Ellis is but he’s got lyrics and flow and this song goes! Expect to find more of his stuff here in the future.
Tre Capital – ZEUS (Ft. Ken Rebel)
This the shit that probably will get young Tre Capital a deal! If this makes you want to go crazy then that means it’s working. More to come from this young LA rapper very soon.
Prospects: Sin Marlee
Hailing from Mid-city Los Angeles, Sin Marlee is that raw mc that you just need more from. His Soundcloud has a few tracks which are great to get you warmed up but you can tell that the best is yet to come. After hearing “King Nazareth” I was sold 100%.
This is the hip hop I love and I will have no sympathy for you if you sleep on Sin. Pass it on.
GoldLink – Ay Ay (aywy. & Fortune Remix)
Crack, fire, the shit, amazing. Whatever you want to call this track is fine by me as long as you bow down to it before it ends. We all know Godlink is one of my favorite modern day MCs, so when you combine his lyrics with the skills of Aywy and Fortune (flo-fi is KILLING it right now), you get magic. Enjoy this god damn magic and share it with your friends.
From Flo-fi
Rewind the clock 5 months. Flow-Fi was merely an idea that was brought to life with the clash of three unlikely producers. aywy., Fortune and subdaio linked up on twitter to lay down the groundwork to ensure this label is what it is today and what was their primary point of discussion? Football. No business, no specifics, just good ol’ fashioned 4-4-2.
Now fast forward 5 months. 10K followers later, with the name of the collective in the minds of people we didn’t even imagine we’d reach, we’ve decided to bring you a track from two of the founders to celebrate what we’ve achieved so far. Channeling their love for football with a distinct, brazilian influence, here’s the official remix for GoldLink’s ‘Ay Ay’, featured on the Deluxe edition of GoldLink’s reissue of The God Complex.
Thanks for a milli plays. We hope this is just the start of something substantial. <3

Video: PrezSport – Droptops
Brand new video here from the homies @ PrezSport (El Prez and Jansport J. I don’t know if you could make a song that was more west coast even if you tried and the visuals that were put together for this fit the vibe of the track perfectly. Prez has been a homie of mine for years and as long as he keeps making dope music, I will be here to tell you all about it.
Catch Prezsport live on July 13th at Zanzibar in Santa Monica. More information and tickets are available here.
Marc E. Bassy – Cigarettes
It may not be the most underground, hardcore, or gangster but you know what it is? It’s dope ass music coming out of the bay. This song might be super catchy and poppy sounding but instead of coming off mad corny, it’s fresh, it pops and you want to make sure it’s on your phone in the morning so you have something to bump to.
Looking forward to watching this guy go far. Read more about his upcoming release right here.
