Paul van Dyk Releases 9th Studio Album: Music Rescues Me

In a euphoria of synths, arpeggios, driving percussion, and uplifting melodies, van Dyk explores the “most mysterious, impalpable and wonderful aspects of music’s nature” on his ninth studio album, Music Rescues Me, out today.

In the wake of his frightening near-death accident at 2016’s A State of Trance festival, van Dyk continues to dig toward the root of his creativity and his love of music. This introspection has materialized itself in a dedication to authenticity and artistic sincerity. On Music Rescues Me, van Dyk continues this reflection by exploring the power of music to, in his words, “get us through tougher or more challenging times, as well as [soundtrack] the good ones… [to] unlock us, [and] allow us to access emotions and places our mind might not otherwise go to….”.

“My greatest aspiration for this release is that people – either now, or in years to come – listening to ‘Music Rescues Me’ will find that one of its tracks elevates, alleviates, opens them up, or takes them out of themselves. That’s the point at which I’ll consider it a success”.

In pursuit of this goal, van Dyk has reunited a number of From Then On’s co-producers while enlisting several new voices, “musicians from around the world who… [have] their own area and [represent] a different sub-style within our shared field. It’s these shades, grades & tones, meshed with my own, that open up a whole world of new musical angles for this, my ninth album”.

Music Rescues Me arrives at a pivotal moment in the rebirth of trance music. Mixmag announced trance’s rebirth in their profile of Paul late last year & Red Bull cosigned the trance revival. Insomniac, the world’s biggest dance music promoter, even hosts an all trance festival, Dreamstate, which has made its way to Southern California, San Francisco, Mexico, London, New York and Melbourne in the past year alone. van Dyk recently performed at Dreamstate Southern California outside of LA, this past November.

Paul van Dyk celebrated at an album-listening event at the iconic London club Printworks in October, and recently completed a 11-date headlining tour of the US. There’s no sign of slowing down from one of the most prolific artists in the history of electronic music.
