Holly Taps Gunplay for OKAY! KENJI-assisted Single “On Me”

Holly Taps Gunplay for OKAY! KENJI-assisted Single “On Me”

Holly has recruited Gunplay and OKAY! KENJI for his new single On Me, out today. On Me is the 3rd single that Holly has released from his upcoming EP on Insomniac Records, Alameda 1000, dropping September 13th. On Me featured Gunplay at his best, reminding his enemies that he’s not one to play with, flowing seamlessly over Holly’s bass-heavy production, with additional production credits from the Atlanta-based producer OKAY! KENJI.

“Gunplay has been one of my favorite rappers since I first heard “Ghetto Symphony” in 2013. It’s crazy how I used to listen to his music before I even began making music on my own, and now we’re on the same record together. I can’t thank OKAY! KENJI enough for helping bring this track to life as well.” – remarks Holly on his collab with Gunplay and OKAY! KENJI

Holly is a Portuguese producer who frequently merges hip-hop and bass/trap music, establishing himself as one of the more forward thinking producers and the saturated world of EDM. Previously released singles from this new EP include Till I Die feat. A$AP TyY and NXSTY , and Through Me. Holly made his debut performance at EDC Las Vegas and Coachella earlier this year, two iconic festivals in the touring circuit, and will also be playing at EDC Korea at the end of August.

Stream Holly’s new collaboration with Gunplay & OKAY! KENJI below and stay on the lookout for the Alameda 1000 EP, on September 13th:

Kiva Shines Bright As Outsidelands gives Cannabis the Green Light

Kiva Shines Bright As Outsidelands gives Cannabis the Green Light

Being a seasoned festival goer over the last 10 years, I knew this day would finally come. The day I’m speaking of here actually happened last Friday when the Outsidelands music festival warmly opened its gates to the cannabis community by allowing festival goers a chance to enjoy their substance of choice in a safe and beautifully curated environment, right on the grounds of Golden Gate park. They called it Grass Lands and for me it felt like an Oasis and a true safe place to enjoy the plan that I love so much.

While other festivals like Northern Nights have had areas where pot loving fans could enjoy their favorite products in the past, Outsidelands is the first major music festival in America to allow the legal sale of cannabis and cannabis infused products and it was a glorious site to see. There were many brands set up in the woodsy clearing where Grass lands was built, showing off their latest products and selling their various strains, concentrates, and accessories, but one brand really stood out to us here at AlwaysHustle.com as far as their activation set up, the quality of their products, and the information they provided to a diverse group of Grass Lands attendees and that brand is Kiva.

Kiva has always been known for their exceptional quality. Their chocolate products alone have become legendary and are still considered to be the best in the industry but beyond that we saw some other treats from the brand that kept us coming back for more.

Both their their gummies and their Petra mints have not left my bag since the festival as Bothe offer edible lovers the perfect amount of THC whether you are looking to micro dose or put your body into full relaxation mode. A far as their activation went, Kiva had a variety of attractions that kept their lines long all weekend, including a live chocolate wall and non medicated sampled of their many treats.

Kiva cofounder Kristi Knoblich Palmer

In only its second year, it appears that Grass lands has made a serious impact on the cannabis and the live events community alike. As a fan of both worlds, it’s exciting to see what lies ahead for programs like Grass Lands and brands like Kiva as they both continue to push things forward for the millions of people who enjoy cannabis in their lives. I can’t say enough about how pleased I was with the whole experience and thanks to these delicious edibles I can now say I am a true Kiva fan for life as well.

Stay tuned for more info about the Cannabis industry and for more great products from Kiva, check out their website here.

Justin Love Drops Vibrant “Get Out” Video Featuring GASHI

Justin Love’s recent single, “Get Out” featuring Gashi, has been the highlight song of this summer, amassing 500k streams in just 2 weeks since release. Love and Gashi have unveiled an amusing video to accompany the song.

The Get Out video revolves around inspiration and celebration, showing Love and Gashi reap the rewards of their hard work after grinding for years in the ultra-competitive music industry. They’re “mini-mes” are portrayed by two cute kids who envision their futures ahead, complete with fancy cars, big houses and the lavish lifestyle of achieving your dreams.

Justin Love and Gashi had the following to share words to share about the Get Out video:

I always strive to act as a role model to the younger generation and show them what hard work looks like. This video is a glimpse through the eyes of a young me to what can be achieved through years of determination.” – Justin

This record and video are one of the greatest songs / videos I’ve ever been a part of and I’m very excited for the world to see this work of art.” – Gashi

Justin Love earned a Grammy nomination earlier this year for H.E.R.’s smash hit Focus, contributing as a songwriter. Get Out has amassed over 500k streams in a couple of weeks since its release, his third single of the year following up Runaway and Bad Mind. Love still has a few more songs up his sleeve that he’s excited to share before the end of the year.

The First of Color-Themed EPs: Red EP by Alexander Lewis is Out

The First of Color-Themed EPs: Red EP by Alexander Lewis is Out

Alexander Lewis just dropped his long waited 6-track project – Red EP – and his signature trombone melodies still play a significant role with the addition of new production elements he incorporated. Lewis has been experimenting with Hip-Hop lately, and this new project that’ll be the first in a series of color themed EPs is no exception. Trained ears can still trace back to Lewis’ EDM roots from the implementation of elaborately designed risers and a grandiose song structure. Although Red EP isn’t the first time that Lewis experimented with Hip-Hop, it still signifies the start of a new chapter in terms of Lewis’ dedication and passion for producing in the style of this flexible genre that offers a lot of space for creativity.

Lewis decided to start off this cinematic experience with Soar, the latest single he released before the Red EP. Soar sets the mood for this epic journey with its theatrical and mysterious vibe. This climactic song is followed by Alexander the Great, a more enigmatic piece that offers insight on Lewis’ train of thought. It is one of the more personal pieces on the album with a dynamic pad melody and a continuous transition from trap to a simple, more intimate Hip-Hop sub-genre. But the track that reflects the complete truth of Alexander Lewis would be Left U On Red feat. JNTHN STEIN. The two talented producers collaborated on this song to display Lewis’ inner world through meticulously crafted sounds. The strings mainly function to make the piece more versatile but also warm and welcoming. The subtle implementation of string plucks make the song a more vibrant and lively one in comparison to a completely computer-generated track.

Lewis had the following to say about the Red EP:

“Red EP was a way for me go beyond the typical “trap trombone banger” and a way for me to dig even deeper with live instrumentation and blend it with electronic music. Red (being part 1 of a color series of EPs) is just another part of my musical influences and a way for me to showcase more depth in my music, not only as a producer but a composer and arranger. I wanted to give the listener a glimpse of what’s to come with mixing trap and more live instrumentation and foreshadow something I’ve always dreamed about doing; performing live with a full orchestra.”

Lewis’ previous work Omni EP hinted a shift in the producer’s style before, but Red EP makes this transition to Hip-Hop official. During this journey, Lewis also contributed on the production of some of Hip-Hop’s greatest hits like Juice WRLD’s banger Big and very recently he produced MAX’s Acid Dreams feat. Felly which premiered on NYLON. He also produced for several other big names like Normani, Rita Ora, YBN Cordae and The Underachievers. Lewis doesn’t forget about his Energy pals either as he’s producing B.Anderson and William $’s upcoming albums.

Justin Love’s New Single “Get Out” Channels the Feels We’ve Been Yearning For

Justin Love’s New Single “Get Out” Channels the Feels We’ve Been Yearning For

Justin Love has come a long way from busking and performing in New Jersey malls to earning recognition as a prolific songwriter. Love didn’t want to make his fans wait any longer and just released his new single Get Out. This collaboration with Hip-Hop realm’s highly revered Gashi indicates a new direction for Love’s music, one that’s more colorful and dynamic.

Get Out opens up a new era for Love with more possibilities to experiment with his music and sound. The funky sub-bass working in conjunction with the high pitched guitar riffs set a more vibrant tone for the song. The breakdown that follows the tense climax lets the song breathe and insinuates a vulnerable moment in the song for Love to be intimate. Gashi’s verse resonates with Love’s obsession with his loved one too, but also reinstates the the young artist’s troubled state of mind. Although he’s already in touch with his emotional side, Love displays his affection deeply by holding onto the idea of his significant other and embraces his infatuation.

Justin Love has been a successful name in the R&B scene alongside his songwriting contributions with H.E.R.’s hit single Focus. He amassed several millions of streams as a solo artist and earned the recognition of the likes of Nicki Minaj and Alicia Keys. Love has a packed schedule for this year with several other single’s scheduled for release before the end of 2019. Make sure to check out Justin Love’s music video for Runaway and Bad Mind before you go and listen to his new jam Get Out.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Takeover The Novo Tomorrow in LA

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Takeover The Novo Tomorrow in LA

The dynamic duo that brought us two of hip-hop’s best albums of the last 6 years is coming back to LA. If you have not heard their latest masterpiece “Bandana” yet, you need to wake the fuck up and fire up Spotify imediatly (you can do that by clicking right here).

Madlib has been once of my favorite producers since I discovered hip-hop for myself in 1998. While I had always been a fan of the stuff on the radio, it was Stones Throw records and the group Lootpack that really elevated me to another level as far as my hip-hop fandom was concerned. Over the years, Madlib has essentially produced the soundtrack to my life. His collaborations with artists like MF Doom, Jay Dee, and Talib Kweli are all time honored classics and his work with legends like Dilla pushed the envelope for todays young producers who seem to obsess over the sounds these guys created.

As far as Freddie Goes, I have covered him on this site since he started gaining traction on the blogosphere in 2007. I had first heard his raps from friends on message boards around 2004 or 5 but it wasn’t until he started touring that I really got a taste of his skill. A true lyricist with a flow and cadence all his own, Freddie got people talking about Gary Indiana for the first time since Michael Jackson emerged from the small midwestern hub.

So now that I have completely dated myself, it’s time to talk about the present. “Bandana” right now has a legit shot at being hip-hop’s album of the year so when I saw that the guys were playing in LA, I made sure my tickets were secured. You should do the same by buying yours from the link below for god’s sake listen to this album if you haven’t yet. You’re ears and brain will both thank you later.

Alexander Lewis Is Soaring The Skies With His New Release

Alexander Lewis Is Soaring The Skies With His New Release

Innovative producer Alexander Lewis is back from the war after releasing his latest single Win the War, and this time he offers us an exhilarating instrumental track called Soar. The bi-coastal artist has been on a roll with the recent releases, all leading up to the Red EP that will be released in the upcoming months.

Soar signifies a transition period in Lewis’ career. Lewis is praised for his earlier EDM work, but lately the artist has been switching to a more Hip-Hop/Trap oriented production style, and Soar is another product of this new era. Lewis does a great job at creating a climactic feel by slowly building up the production and making it sound lively through the orchestration. Although strings are not as common in Hip-Hop productions, Lewis took full advantage of his resources and incorporated them seamlessly into the song, which helped setting a more dynamic and rousing atmosphere. What really differentiates Lewis as a producer is his trombone melodies. As a trained trombonist, Lewis includes this underestimated instrument in all of his works to establish a fusion of genres.

Lewis is not stopping here. Win the War and Soar are just a tease of a much greater, long form project. Red EP is Lewis’ most ambitious project yet, and the fans are excited to hear more of this work.
