Splice and Movement 2018 partner to release a Sounds of Detroit, featuring 20+ Artists from Movement 2018 Lineup

Splice and Movement 2018 partner to release a Sounds of Detroit, featuring 20+ Artists from Movement 2018 Lineup

In the age of sampling and access to technology, samples can be created from anything. For example, a simple sound of a dumpster lid hitting a container could be pitched down to create a kick drum. This is the magic of sampling.

Unlike other sample packs that are solely created in a studio, Detroit legends Shigeto and Wajeed roamed the city to find sounds that inspired them. After recording various landmarks and soundscapes throughout Detroit, Shigeto and Wajeed tasked artists from the Movement 2018 lineup to create unique samples from the raw sounds.

Artists who contributed to the pack include: Andrés, Mark Flash, Ectomorph, Blake Baxter, Shady P, Delano Smith, Black Noi$e, Kweku Saunderson, Antenes, Marco Shuttle, MGUN, Chuck Daniels, Milan Ariel, Gene Farris, The Saunderson Brothers, Marshall Applewhite, Mija, John Dixon & Chris Koltay

Through pitch-shifting, distorting, and quantizing the sounds, the team of artists created a pack of samples and loops, which is now available on Splice Sounds.

In order to foster and propel the music scene in Detroit, all proceeds from the pack will be donated to the Seraphine Collective and Spin, Inc.

RÜFÜS DU SOL ANNOUNCE SOLACE ALBUM AND TOUR

RÜFÜS DU SOL – one of the world’s preeminent live electronic bands – have announced a fall tour, bringing their titanic live show to some of North America’s most prized venues from coast-to-coast. This news is accompanied by the reveal of their much-anticipated album’s name SOLACE, of which the tour takes the same title.

The SOLACE Fall Tour will touch down at seminal venues such as Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall (3 nights), New York’s Terminal 5, San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Denver’s The Fillmore Auditorium, House of Blues Boston and Houston, and more plus a massive festival play at Voodoo Music & Arts Experience in New Orleans.

This tour announcement comes on the wake of the band’s unveiling of the first track, No Place, off the album which marks the first new music from the trio in more than two years.

The ticket presale lottery is open now; this is the exclusive first window for securing tickets. Using software that eliminates bots and scalpers, the presale lottery gives fans a fair chance to get their tickets before GA, on sale this coming Friday, June 22. Buy tickets HERE.

Comprised of members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt, RÜFÜS DU SOL occupy the intersection of entrancing indie music and intelligent electronica. It is through this seamless transcendence of styles that their own sonic realm has unfolded; a landscape painted with the club culture of yesteryear and a poignant yet infectious ability to be ever in the moment.

The band’s debut album, ATLAS, reached No. 1 on the Australian charts and reaped Platinum status – successes that were repeated with its follow-up record, Bloom. Released in 2016, Bloom offered such iconic singles as “You Were Right” and “Innerbloom,” and launched RÜFÜS DU SOL on a two-year international tour, playing over 100 sold-out shows across 13 countries.

“The Australian trio knows how to set a mood, and sell it well,” noted Billboard while MTV tipped RÜFÜS DU SOL as “poised for worldwide breakout.”

RÜFÜS DU SOL has spent the past year in Venice, CA, writing and recording their third album, which is largely influenced by the stark desert landscapes of California and their experiences on the road.

“It feels like a new RÜFÜS,” the trio says. “We are inspired by our new home out here, by the people we’ve met and the music we’ve heard along the way. We’ve got a refreshed sense of ambition and cannot wait to share our creation with the world.”

1000volts and Zeds Dead – “Kill Em”

1000volts and Zeds Dead – “Kill Em”

Starting off the weekend with a shock, Canadian-based Zeds Dead pairs up with the new collaborative project 1000volts on their latest single “Kill Em.”

With major performances at EDC Las Vegas, EDC China, and Beyond Wonderland over this past year, Jayceeoh paired with Method Man-collaborator Redman to form the electrifying duo known as 1000volts. Combining DJ sample scratch routines, electronic synths and sounds, and hip hop drums and lyrics, 1000volts is crafting their own genre fueled from hip hop and EDM.

The track starts off with a heavy set of trap drums, sample scratching, and Redman’s raspy voice. While the drop is filled with Zeds Dead’s signature distorted growls and gritty synths, the verse sections allow Redman’s lyricism to shine bright in the mix. The balance of electronic elements and hip hop groove is hypnotizing to any listener.

Video: Jungle – Happy Man

Video: Jungle – Happy Man

One of my favorite bands (PERIOD) dropped a new song & music video last month and it’s fucking great. The vibe that Jungle creates with their music is just infectious. Their sound is classic but at the same time it just makes you want to dance. Please remember that this is coming from a guy who hates to dance but what are you supposed with something like this. I can barely sit still listening to it now as I write this post. If you aren’t familiar with Jungle I feel sorry for your life! Go see them live and stream everything you can get your hands on asap.
