My fifth installment of “I Did It For Hip Hop” had me waking up from a nap on Sunday afternoon because I remembered that Phonte and his group The Foreign Exchange were doing a free instore @ Amoeba Records in Hollywood. I have filmed countless shows at that record store and with TFE’s new album “Leave It All behind” now out, I knew I could help them out with some promo shots and just enjoy a dope afternoon of music. I was not let down at all. Below you will find their entire mini set from that afternoon.

When I got there it was already filling up and I realized I had forgotten my ninja cam. This is why i bring 2 cameras every where I go. It might seem like a little much but it saved my ass here and this is the only reason why I have all of these great shots for you today.

If you still don’t know who these guys are, I suggest watching the video below this paragraph first. The Foreign Exchange is a breath of fresh air when it comes to the music in my world right now. The mellow vibe, amazing beats, and pleasant vocal tones mesh together perfectly to offer a sound that is both hip hop and soulful. The only performed a mini set, selecting classic songs from their first album “Connected” and giving us a taste of the goods from “Leave It All Behind”. I saw a lot of people reaching for copies after their set so I hope they got some stuff sold.

Weather you are a hard core hip hop fan or just a fan of good music, The Foreign Exchange provides a different fee from what you are used to and its a very good thing. This is quality music that will hopefully crossover to many crowds. I wish Phonte, Niccolay and everybody else the best of luck. keep making that dope music and I will keep talking about it.
